The Exmore Diner - Testimony to Changing Times
The
Exmore Diner was originally a railcar brought down to Exmore from New
Jersey by the Diner's first owner in 1954. The Diner closed in the
late 50s, then reopened in the 70s under new management. Evelyn
Pruitt, who worked as a waitress here for seven years, bought the Diner in
1989. Today the Diner is a family run operation employing her son
Sean, brother Allen Packett and sister Bonnie Packett. The
restaurant has thrived under Pruitt's direction as evidenced by the
continual flow of traffic into the Diner parking lot from sunrise to
sundown.
What They Say About Us
"...it's easy to see why the
Diner's food is a staple part of the locals' lives. The creamed
chipped beef is quite tasty, as is the egg sandwich, served on a properly
toasted English muffin....everything is delightful right down to the
background conversation of the local gents behind us who are gossiping
about outboard engines, fishing and each other."
-Joe Sugarman
and Kessler Burnett, Chesapeake Life Magazine
"For an old fashioned Diner
experience, stop at the Exmore Diner on Business 13 in Exmore. You
can tailor order your breakfast, one pancake, one egg, etc., or order the
standard menu items. The prices are very reasonable. Usual
disclaimer, I have no financial or other interest in the Diner."
